28 Oct

21 years old or not I will still get a swift African backhand for listening to any of these songs in front of my parents:

The other day, I was standing in line at Tesco humming the tune to “My Baby Just Cares For Me” when an older gentleman looked me critically up and down and asked with just a hint of derision, “what you know about Nina Simone?”  Well actually sir, I know about some Nina Simone…

[Music] Friday Mixtape Vol.2

28 Oct

Way back when, I made a mixtape for the place that brings you mixtapes every Friday, www.fridaymixtape.com.  Because I super love the mixtapes they put out over there, I decided to hit em with vol.2 of random mixtapes curated by RiverTems.  It’s a pretty….eclectic  mix shall we say and it has little rhyme or reason, but it’s a pretty accurate snapshot of what goes on in my iTunes now-a-days.  Have a listen and let me know what you think (http://fridaymixtape.com/mixtape-119/).  Also shoutout to @thelastminute for all the help.

Idris Elba is my IBM, which is probably why this is my third Elba related post in a row.  Now that we’ve established that I’m stalking him we can talk about his latest project.  He’s producing/presenting/being paid to put his name on the project so that people will watch Milk + Honey which is described as, “a scripted series that follows the spiritual, professional and romantic journeys of four young and ambitious women navigating the lights, smoke and mirrors of Hollywood”.
